4/14/2016 Update
almost 10 years ago – Thu, Apr 14, 2016 at 11:49:40 PM

Hi everyone.

So, it’s strange, looking back at the world manuscript after a few years have gone by. I’m noticing so many things that were either in need of another round of edits, or were simply not fleshed out enough…So many holes and unanswered questions about regions of the world that need to be addressed…and for the past month or so I’ve been doing that (among other things).

Since everything is in my hands, now, it’s much easier for me to look at the existing material as I prep it for the Fate edition. I’m catching numerous errors in grammar…not simply spelling errors, but sentences that make my brain twist, and the corners of my eyes twitch. I’m not going to release this until those issues are fixed. I have to admit, though, that it’s an exhausting process, and I can only take it in small doses before my eyes begin to melt and my throat starts to hurt from all the expletives.

Thank God for coffee.

All that said, the first four chapters are laid out, and waiting on a finalized graphic design. In the next 24 hours, I’m going to provide a link to those laid out chapters, so you can see that work (a ton of work) has been done. Don Bisdorf, Joshua Yearsley and Richard Bellingham have proofed my work on the layout multiple times, and with the exception of a few pieces of artwork, we believe these sections are complete.

All I have left to do is finish my edits/layout on the world, solar system, threats and NPCs, do any additional art direction, create a character sheet and then turn it over to the guy who finalizes the layout.

So, it’s a longer process than anticipated, but once this beast gets printed, I can’t take it back.

I hope you understand.

Hi everyone. I hope all is well with you!

More than half the book is in layout, and waiting on final proofs. As I move forward with the world section, I'm noticing some sections that need polishing, and in general I need to make another art order to fill out some blank spaces, so that's slowing things down, but the end product is going to be worth the wait.

In other news, I've recieve3d the samples of the IZ Fate tokens, and they're awesome!

Here's an image to show you what they look like.

As always, I'll keep you posted on progress. Have a great Sunday!

March 1 update
about 10 years ago – Tue, Mar 01, 2016 at 03:43:53 PM

Hi everyone. I’m sorry for the lack of communication. Things have been hectic lately, and I just wanted to update you on the progress of the book.

Layout is progressing nicely. I expect to have the entire book done and ready to go by the end of March at the very latest. Right now the main issues are artwork, and I’m waffling on the graphic design of the book. I’m torn between doing a stripped down layout with a white background, and minimal graphics to accent the layout, and something extravagant that makes the page look like a Head’s Up Display. The former option feels more inline with the design of the Fate Core book, but the latter focuses on a futuristic, cyberpunk feel.

The book will have a 2 column layout, which reads very well at a 9 point body font. I’d like to do one column, but to be honest with you, this is a massive book, and I have page restrictions. In any case, I think you’re going to love the end product.

Brian Engard’s adventure has been edited, and layout/art development will begin on that once I wrap up the core book. The Threats of 2090 manuscript is in, and needs editing, and finally, the manuscript for the Japan Sourcebook is also complete.

The Fate Tokens and the Dice have been ordered, and the only thing left is the final design on the cards, which leads to the following question.

Since we’re going with 2 decks, one blank, and one with an aspect and room for others, what else would you like to see on these cards? I’m going to have them double-sided to maximize utility.

The final size will be a US Bridge ( 2.5 x 3 inches), so space is tight.

As always, thanks for your patience, and I hope all is well with everyone!

The Fate dice have been ordered, as have the Campaign coins!!  Brian Engard's adventure is in, and I'm waiting for the conversion of the New York source book to be completed.

Things are going pretty well!

February 1st Update

Hi all,

Just hopping in to give you an update. I'm doing some extra writing for the PDF, as I saw some holes in the History document, primarily the Second American Civil War. That was a big hole in previous iterations of this book, and I want to be sure the material is in this time.

Other chapters are in layout, and artwork is being purchased as well.
