1/14/2016 Update

Hi everyone, I'm just hopping in to update you on the progress of this project.
I'm working on editing the setting material to get it ready for layout, and that's progressing a bit slow, but I want to make sure the material you'll be reading is solid. There's over 150 pages (in formatted text) to go through, so it's very important that it's not rushed.
I've heard from Brian Engard on the progress of the Introductory adventure, and that's nearly complete and ready to go into editing. I also expect to see the Threats of 2090 manuscript some time in February. I haven't ordered dice yet, but will be doing so next week.
I'm still finalizing the Aspect card designs, and will share them with you once I get them ready. The Fate token design needs a bit of a tweak, just so the developers know exactly how things are layered. I've never done a metal coin before and it's interesting to see how this process works.
I hope everyone is having a great start to the new year!
Thanks for your time.

Zone Aspect Cards: Dry Erase!

So, on a whim I printed some cards for a different project, and used Dry-erase markers on them. To my surprise, the ink wiped off easily, so I'm happy to announce these cards will be Dry-erase!
With that in mind, I think option #2 (see the last update) is going to be the best solution; One printed aspect, with space to write more aspects, and a notes section.
Thoughts?
Needing feedback about the Zone Aspect deck
over 10 years ago

Hi everyone!
I'm posting this update to get some feedback from you about the Zone Aspect cards. As I mentioned before, these won't be dry-erase. Given that, the designers and I are looking at three possible options for development:
1) The simple option: one aspect per card in big text, without any space for write-ins or extras. This is the simplest design and provides the best visibility, which will be nice for people sitting on the far side of the gaming table, or for people who like to post photos of their game in progress.
2) The customizable option: one aspect per card, with room left over for players to write in one or more aspects as needed. The advantage here is that it allows players to modify the cards to suit their gaming conditions, though only if players are willing to write on their cards. If pencil marks erase cleanly from these cards, this might not be a big hassle.
3) The multiple choice option: several pre-printed aspects per card, so that we can (potentially) fit a couple of hundred aspects on deck of 50-ish cards. Providing checkboxes would allow players to select the aspect they need right now, though again, I wonder whether this reduces the re-usability of the cards.

Let us know what you think. We want this deck to have maximum utility at your game tables.
YOU DID IT!

These past 26 days have been a whirlwind of emotion. I’m overwhelmed by the outpouring of support this project has received. You came together to help make this project a reality, and for that I can’t thank you enough!
So let’s recap.
The book
The book will be approximately 352 pages printed in color, with a silk ribbon bookmark. I MAY be able to do gun metal grey gilding. I’ll get a confirmation on that within the next few days. The cover will be Matte, with a UV finish on the images and logos, with custom end pages (not the same ones as the Savage Worlds version), and the interior pages will be semi-gloss paper. I’m also looking into the possibility of getting the books numbered. I can’t get them signed do to logistics, unfortunately. Sorry about that.
Bonus Rewards
During the kickstarter we unlocked a few rewards, such as the aforementioned modifications to the book, but what else?
We opened up add-ons for the Zone Aspect Deck—a 54 card deck you can use to write down aspects for zones (or anything else, really) characters enter. This will be a great time saving resource for all of your Fate games. They aren’t dry-erase. I never found a good printing solution, but the card stock will be good enough that you could use pencil, or perhaps even find dry-erase plastic card protectors.
We opened up a bonus reward that will get all backers fate translations of the mini adventures to date (5), The Fate Translation of Extraction with Extreme prejudice (which also has guidelines for creating a safe house), and the Phoenix source book!
All in all, that’s a nice haul, not to mention the Threats of 2090 PDF, Custom Dice, the Fate tokens, and the Introductory adventure written by Brian Engard!
Within the next month or so, I’ll be sending out a survey via Backerkit, and you’ll be able to add more swag, or even pre-order the book if you didn’t get it during the kickstarter. Shipping costs will be charged at that time.
Again, thanks so much for your support, everyone! We think you’re going to love the book (and PDFs, for you guys and gals who just wanted those).
Don’t forget to download the play test rules. You can find the link in Update #1.
I’ll be posting regular updates as this process moves forward, so keep an eye out!
THANKS!
